Day 31 -Fitness and Weight Plateaus

It has been one whole month of participating in my 2019 New Year Resolution and I’m really close to being on track, I’m 9 lbs down, I hope you are finding success in your own way.  At this point, many may have come across the dreaded plateau stage. You are working out hard, cut back your calorie intake and you have stop seeing results. Well here is a little insight and how to tackle your plateaus.

Let's say you are working out hard at the gym every time you go.  You want your work outs to count right, you don’t want to waste your time, and you want to get the most out of it. But if you truly want to get the most out of your work outs you have to give your body variety or it will not improve. If you mix up your high intensity work outs with low intensity work outs, it will help your body build a foundation and also your muscle memory will not know what to expect.  If you do the same work out all the time, or same level of intensity in your work out, then you start to plateau and then you actually lose fitness instead of gain.  You will have better results in your high intensity work outs if you throw in those long low intensity workouts.

This can be said for weigh plateaus as well. When you give your body the same amount of calories in, even if it is less than your calories out your body knows how to maintain its self that is what it is built for and our bodies does a good job at it. With this being said our body goes into starvation mode and you don’t get the same desired weight loss.  Same solution as the fitness aspect. Variety! Have a cleanse day or two, then go back to your normal routine. Have a splurge weekend. Keep your metabolism on its toes. This will help your body from going into starvation mode, where it stores all your calories consumed instead of letting them pass through your body.

So the simple solution to your problem is one word: Variety!
