Day 3 - The importance of habits

Our habits create our lives. Changing habits is not easy and it takes lots of work but to have real success you have to have the habits that create success. How do you get your habits? How can you change your habits?

It is said that it takes 21 days of repetitive action to create a habit, I don’t know how much I agree with that. There is an emotional state to all your habits and if you do your habits and don’t understand the driving force of the old habits then the old habits come back because the new habits fad away.

I read this great book, Breaking the Habits of Being Yourself by Dr. Joe Dispenza. It’s a little out there with the quantum physics chapters but one thing I really found amazing was what your body is addicted to. I’m not talking only about exterior addictions, but how your body wants to feel a certain way so it will make your mind think a certain way. I cannot explain the whole concept in this short blog but your body’s chemistry is addicted to living a certain way and it high jacks your mind. You think you (your mind is in control) but really your body is.

Example, you get upset with your boss at work or your coworker and as you are driving home you replay this argument, and your body gets all wound up again. Your body is addicted to those emotions(chemicals), telling you too subconsciously focus on that event.

So how do we stop this subconscious habit, we have to first understand that this is happening and to stop that train of thought. This is also what goes on when forming a habit. You (your mind) has to be in control when starting a new habit to not have the body subconsciously sabotage the new habit. Our self-talk is something to be very aware of when we are setting new habits into play to achieve our new goals.

Kelowna, Healthy Body Fitness,
Be aware of that self-talk and stop it's subconscious negative feed.

Tip, keep that self-talk in the present.
